here she is, our beautiful Road King, she has never let us down and we love her dearly, but alas, she has to go!
She's a 2007 model which has benefitted from the addition of a Hyper Charger and vance and Hines pipes (all professionally set up on a dynamometer by Mayor's Motorcycles)
It also has a complete quick detach touring kit including two different rear racks, a tour pack, two different sized screens(standard and extra tall) and clib on leg shields(not that we ever need them, it never ever rains here in wales, ahem, coff)
the handlebars have also been swapped, all the wiring now runs through them and it has been fitted with replacement stainless control lines etc.
It's not showroom mint, it gets used all year round, but it is very, very good, only one owner before us and has been professionally serviced using good quality components (eg Lucas OIl)
She's only covered seventeen thousand miles, and could be yours more ten and a half thousand pounds including a new MOT.
The price ISN'T negotiable, but I might take a much cheaper part ex, be it bike (bmw?, Vmax?, 1200 Bandit?, WHY?) or car(and by car, I mean a PROPER car, Jeep, Cadillac, why?, something INTERESTING!)
oh yes, all the original bits are also included in the sale

Sorry to hear that you’re selling your beloved Harley. I’m sure that you have had many memories on the road with it. The modifications are amazing! Makes me wonder why you want to sell it. I just hope that whoever would buy your Harley would treat it as you had. And maybe, someday, you can find another one that you would call Road King again.
ReplyDeleteHi Max, this is Sidecar Jon's fiancée ... quite simply, money. Things have gotten a bit out of control in terms of finances, and though it breaks our hearts, something has to give :-( It can't be the house (kids and dogs would be rather upset without a roof, and so indeed would we), so... But we have loved her so, and we will continue to use her, while we can, until she goes off on new adventures with somebody new. We were very very luck to be able to enjoy her for a while at least and will keep the memories dear.
ReplyDeleteThat’s quite a sad story, having to sell your Harley after many years of good service. Well, just like a good book, your part of the chapter has already come to its conclusion. But a new adventure awaits for those who will be the new owners of the bike, and I’m sure that the bike will make new adventures with the new owners. Have you sold it already?
ReplyDeleteClaudio McCarty
thanks for your thoughts, Claudio
DeleteI'm sure that she will indeed make her new owners very happy, she really is a fantastic bike.
The best I have ever owned, in fact.
I hope that whoever buys her lives a long way from us, we'd hate to see someone else riding about on our pride and joy every time we are out and about!
At present, she is still unsold, not easy to sell a high value bike in the uk whilst the recession is still happening, but we will be re advertising her come the spring and I have no doubt she'll be moving on to new people then
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI may just looking for a RK and I am in South Wales too. Oh, and yes, I have been to Dudley Perkins although it was about 15 years ago!
Just one little thing, I have a bike that I would need to sell or part-ex.
Mike
Hi Mike
DeleteWe might just manage to keep hold of her after all, not sure yet though.
What is the bike you would be looking to part exchange?
If it was fifteen years ago that you went to Dudley Perkins, I'm guessing you must've visited the shop that was on (I think) van ness.
We're going back there next month-happy times!
My current bike is a Honda ST1300, great bike for touring but not too much in the way of character. I got turned on to Harleys when I owned a Buell, I just love the engines!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I am not too far from you in Clydach! Small world!
By the way, when I visited Dudley Perkins, the store was located a short walk from the piers, and it was in about 1999. I had a grey denim engineers cap from there which I loaned to a "friend" about 4 years ago, never seen it since!
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed a very small world, p'haps it'd be good to meet up at some point, did you know Mand P are opening their new Harley dealership this weekend?
ReplyDeleteAh, yes, sounds like you went to the Van Ness store, before my time that one, but my fiancée assures me it was a great place, just as the new one is
I know just what you mean about your Honda, a good bike, efficient and reliable but without much soul.
Great basis for a trike though!
Yes, it would be good to meet up, it would be nice to get an unbiased opinion on the RK and no, I didn't know M&P were opening a HD dealership! Now that IS good news!
ReplyDeleteI used to visit Oxford HD as it was where I bought my old Buell from and they were good people to deal with.
Mike
aha, my opinion may not be entirely unbiased, it is without a doubt my favourite of all the bikes I have owned (and there have been a LOT of those!)
ReplyDeleteThen again I'm not blind to any shortcomings either!
I used to sell Harley's for a living, the Road King is still my favourite, and I like 'em all (more or less)
M and P are having their grand opening over the weekend of thirteenth and fourteenth of April, sadly we can't get there, but it should be good, bands, hog roast, lots of things put on by Harley and test rides etc.
We popped in yesterday and were suitably impressed with the showroom, and more importantly, the staff.
My fiancee pointed out that the Dudley Perkins shop you went to in San Francisco, would have been the smaller one very close to fisherman's wharf, not the one I had assumed before.
The fisherman's wharf shop is still there and doing a brisk trade, mostly with tourists I suspect
Last time we went in, they weren't stocking the cap your friend 'borrowed' though, so you'll have to wrestle it back!
